Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service employs 1246 people in various functions with 747 wholetime firefighters, 310 retained firefighters and 29 control staff.
The support staff number approximately 160 and fulfil various roles within the organisation working to provide essential support services. Technical support services include the management and maintenance of vehicles and operational equipment, catering and cleaning, radio communications, uniforms and protective clothing and procurement. We have support staff working in administration and clerical jobs, human resources, finance and payroll, IT, administration, communications and occupational health and fitness, to name a few.
