FIRE
SAFETY (half-day) course
Students
attending the course will be persons from organisations working in the
fields of Business & Commerce, Local Industry and Local Authorities.
The course will lay the foundations for future fire safety training
sessions. It will be particularly valuable for those employees who have
or may have, a defined staff role within the Organisations Fire Management
Structure.
Course
Aim
To enhance Fire Safety awareness within the workplace in accordance
with current legislative requirements.
Course
Objectives
At the end of the course, the student will be able to:
1.
Understand the legal requirements in relation to fire safety issues.
2.
Understand basic fire science including classification of fires, fire
triangle and methods of fire spread.
3.
Understand the fire prevention measures available within the work environment.
4.
Identify the safety equipment available within the workplace.
5.
Demonstrate the safe and effective use of portable firefighting equipment
on a variety of controlled fire scenarios.
Assessment
Process
The students’ theoretical knowledge of fire safety matters is
carried out using pre and post assessment papers conducted at the SIFTC.
The assessment papers will cover the technical subjects on the course.
Certificate
Issue
On successful completion of the course, a certificate is issued by the
SIFTC.
