Frequently Asked Questions

Is there on-site parking available?

There is no on-site parking available as we share our premises with an operational Fire Station. There is metered parking available in the street and free parking in Dryden Street (access via Pilrig Street). Please allow time for parking before your course.

Is there disabled parking?

Yes. There is disabled parking within the Centre's grounds.

Is catering provided?

Yes. Catering is provided by the Centre for full day courses. If you have any special dietary arrangements, please contact us before your course so we can make prior arrangements.

What will I need to bring?

Generally, you will not need to bring anything with you. See course documents which will be sent out to you when your course is booked.

What if I have travel delays – which will result in being late for the course?

Please contact the Centre at your earliest opportunity to let us know that you are going to be late

Is there changing facilities within the Centre?

Yes, there are changing, showering and lockers available for course participants.

As a visitor to the Centre, is there anything I should be aware of?

As a visitor to the Scottish International Fire Training Centre, you should be aware of your surroundings and not do anything to increase risk to the safety of yourself or others. You should make yourself aware of fire exits, exit signs, call points and obey the instructions provided to you.

The Training Centre shares its grounds with an operational fire station; please take care when crossing over the yard.
