1. Background Information
The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister has issued a National Procurement Strategy for the Fire and Rescue Service 2005-2008. This document highlights the importance of Procurement in assisting to deliver the vision and the modernising agenda. To do this, procurement needs to be at the heart of decision making within the service to ensure sure that it fully contributes to this work.
The summary of key targets the milestones in which the Fire and Rescue Services are expected to meet in order to improve service delivery and value for money through better procurement. The strategy document is the final stage in ensuring the Service meets the milestones identified, and will enable the Procurement Function to respond to the Modernising Agendas whilst ensuring that we as a service are at the forefront in delivering a cost-effective and efficient service.
