28 January 2012 - Blaze at car scrapyard, West Lothian

Firefighters were called to a large-scale fire at a scrap yard in West Lothian in the early hours of Saturday morning (28 January).

More than 50 firefighters were involved in tackling the blaze involving about 150 scrapped cars, which were well alight.

The alarm was raised just after 2am to Campbell’s Auto Salvage Yard, Colinshiel View, Armadale, West Lothian.

Seven pumping appliances and specialist appliances from Bathgate, Whitburn, Livingston, Linlithgow, West Calder, Dalkeith, Crewe Toll and South Queensferry attended at the scene as firefighters battled to extinguish the blaze. The fire was brought under control by 8am in the morning.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is now under way.
