10 September 2008 - Car Wash FireFighters Charity
Firefighters from Lothian and Borders will be turning their buckets of water towards the cars of local drivers this Saturday. As part of a nationwide wide fundraising event sponsored by Autoglym, thousands of Firefighters across the UK will be lining up outside local stations with buckets and sponges.
Fire Stations which have confirmed their participation include South Queensferry, Penicuik, Selkirk, Galashiels, Innerleithen, Kelso, Melrose, Hawick, Jedburgh, Lauder, West Linton, Newcastleton, Peebles, Bathgate, West Calder, Broxburn, Haddington, Eyemouth, East Linton, Dunbar and North Berwick. Further stations will be confirmed before Saturday on the Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service website www.lbfire.org.uk.
The day provides drivers with the opportunity to receive a shampoo and polish for their cars, along with the opportunity to make a charity donation upon exit. Firefighters will be collecting donations for The Fire Fighters Charity - the official organisation which exists for injured firefighters during their times of need, assisting over 13,000 individuals every year by providing pioneering treatment and support services.
By stopping to have your car washed on 13th September, you can help raise greatly needed funds for the Charity, whilst also educating your family about fire safety. By taking a little more care in the home, we should be able to prevent accidental fires altogether, leading to fewer accidents and, ultimately, fewer casualties.
All of the shampoo for the National Car Wash Day has kindly been donated by leading car care player – Autoglym.
