Who is the Course aimed at

The course is aimed at students who may form the command structure of shipboard fire parties and to direct and control fire emergency situations and or may be required to organise and train ship board fire parties.

The pre-requisites for the course are:

  • Students must meet the criteria laid down by the Merchant Navy Training Board regarding a Basic Firefighting Course
  • Students are required to be fit and in good health

Objectives - On our fourth day advanced course, students will also receive instruction in:

  • Shipboard Organisation
  • Command and Control
  • Pre-Planning and Emergency Preparedness for emergency situations
  • Training Principles with emphasis on training styles, exercises briefings and de-briefings
  • Control and Communications
  • Fire Investigation principles and techniques
  • Fire detection and fixed installations

Assessment Process

Pre and post assessment papers will be used to confirm the theoretical knowledge base of the student. The practical exercises will be assessed by Instructional Staff throughout the course.

Certificate Issue

On successful completion of the course a certificate will be awarded to the student in accordance with STCW 95 Code as authorised by the MCA.
